A presidential visit brought Sierra Leone’s food-security ambition into direct conversation with the work underway at Fambul Rice Farm.
During a recent visit to Tormabum, His Excellency Dr Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, visited Fambul Rice Farm to see the company’s rice cultivation and operational capabilities.
The visit included observation of drone-enabled crop operations over the fields, inspection of the company’s mechanisation assets and engagement with members of the Fambul Rice team.
It provided an opportunity to demonstrate how a Sierra Leonean commercial agribusiness is applying machinery, crop science and technology to expand domestic rice production.

The visit placed attention on the private-sector capacity required to turn national agricultural ambition into production.
Fambul Rice’s work reflects priorities identified in its alignment with Feed Salone: increasing domestic output, building local industry, creating opportunities and strengthening the systems around commercial agriculture.
